Clifton Booth, “Papa” 93 of Olive Branch, MS, departed this life June 25, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was a decorated Navy Chief, serving this great country through 2 wars and beyond for a total of 20 years. Following an honorable discharge, Clif moved to Memphis, TN with his family and worked as a government inspector for another 32 years until his retirement at age 74.
Papa will be remembered as a terrific husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a strong person who lived life on his own terms believing in the value of hard work and a good education. He believed in the power of love and Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife and soul mate Marjorie Smith Booth, son Tom Booth and grandchildren Mark Booth and Laura Mason. He is survived by his sister, Mattie Ruth Bailey of Canoe, AL, daughter Paula Booth Mason (Corky), grandchildren David Booth (Debbie), Drew Mason (Jennifer) and 8 great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at Caldwell Chapel Cemetery near Jonesboro, AR at 11:00 a.m., Thursday July 17, 2014. Family will receive friends at papa’s residence upon return. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Caldwell Chapel Cemetery Association, 1101 Fairway Circle, Jonesboro, AR 72401, (or the donor’s favorite charity).
