Brian Allen Burd, 50, of Southaven, MS passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Allen Thornley and Mr. & Mrs. Robert E. Burd and his uncle, Steven Burd. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Jennifer Burd; children: Carys Burd, Aiden Burd, and Conor Burd; father, Robert E. Burd, II; mother, Nancy Burd; brother, Kevin Burd (Margaret); mother-in-law, Wanda Yopp; brother-in-law, Stephen Yopp (Kelly); sister-in-law, Angela Myers (Jeff); and nieces and nephew, Hannah Burd, Audra Myers, Lana Yopp, and Liam Yopp; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. After attending DOD school, Upper Heyford High School, in England, Brian graduated from Milford High School in Milford, DE. Brian received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware. He was proud to be a Blue Hen. He also received his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Upon moving to the Memphis area, he worked for many years at Medtronic. In the last few years, he worked as a Senior Project Engineer with MicroPort Orthopedics, Inc. Brian became an Eagle Scout at age 15 while living in England while his father served in the US Air Force. In his free time, he served as a Cub Scout leader for Pack 190 in Southaven, MS. He also mentored middle school children in the Memphis area through SWE Lego Mindstorm robotics program and competitions. He also volunteered with many Veterans support and awareness events and charities. Everyone who met Brian instantly knew his kindness, his generosity, and his wicked sense of humor. Family was his greatest love, and they are his greatest legacy. In memory of Brian, his family requests that everyone do something kind for someone every day. The family will hold a private memorial service.
