Billy Ray Acree, 89, of Olive Branch, MS went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2023. Bill was born on January 17, 1934 in Memphis, TN to the late Jefferson Leroy Acree and Gladys Marie Johnson Acree. He married the love of his life, Lavenia Grace Chambers on June 26, 1952. She gave birth to their son, Michael Ray Acree on March 21, 1956. Bill’s dream was to fly from an early age. He accomplished this dream as a young man when he began to fly crop dusters. He got a Bachelor’s of Science in aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. His first airline job was with Southern Airway. He then went on to work for Republic Airline and ended his career as a Captain with Northwest Airline where he retired. He desired to be the best he could be in everything he did including being a husband and father. He loved his wife and son dearly and wanted them to have the best life possible. Bill was a very learned man and well spoken. Bill was a believer in Jesus Christ and loved his church and Sunday School class. He also loved the city of Olive Branch and served on the planning commission. He spoke a lot about how proud he was of our city. He was one of the kindest men you could ever meet. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Brantley Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 1-2 pm with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Southwoods. Bill’s son, Michael would like to express his heartfelt appreciation for the love and support of his family and friends during this time and he could not have made it without them. He was the best Dad and best friend he could have asked for. He gave and gave until he couldn’t give anymore. Michael wanted to just simply say, “Thanks, Dad, I love you!”
