OLD TOWN—William “Bill” LaFlamme, 85, died, after a short illness, April 1, 2023 at a Bangor hospital. He was born September 23, 1937, in Old Town a son of William E. LaFlamme Jr and Martha U. (Taylor) LaFlamme.
Bill was a 1956 graduate of Old Town High School, served in the US Army, returning to Old Town to work at the James River Mill for the next 38 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to fish Beech Hill Pond and the annual fishing trips to the Allagash. He was always the one to catch the biggest fish. He enjoyed being a teacher and mentor and sharing his love of hunting and fishing with the next generations. A truly selfless man, Bill will be remembered for his tough love demeanor. He was strong willed, supportive and was always willing to lend a hand. His incredible work ethic was instilled in his entire family.
He is survived by his wife, of 58 years, Jean “Sharon” LaFlamme; four children, Michael LaFlamme and his wife Denise and their children, Matthew, John, Emily and Joshua; Jim LaFlamme and his wife Linda and their Children, Cheryl, Sam, Michele and Amber; Stephen LaFlamme and his wife Carrie and their children, Aimee and Ripley; Julianne Gould and very special son-in-law Tim Gould and their children Timothy and Nicholas; several nieces and nephews and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers James (Jack) and Galen and a grandson Sawyer.
A graveside service will be conducted 1PM Tuesday May 23rd at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Town Animal Orphanage PO Box 565 Orono, ME 04473
