Old Town and Bangor - Robert N. Blair passed away on February 8, 2017, in Bangor following a short illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Old Town on June 2, 1932, the son of Nazaire and Alma (Gifford) Blair. He attended schools in Old Town and graduated from Old Town High School in 1951 where he was active in sports, and during his senior year he joined the Naval Reserves. Following graduation he worked at Old Town Canoe and in 1952 married his beloved wife Pauline (Martin) Blair of Old Town and raised their four children. He was drafted into service in November of 1952 and served in the Navy until 1954 during the Korean War. He worked at the mill in Old Town for forty-one years, retiring as a receiver in the store department. He also worked at the Red & White supermarket and the Old Town Fire Department. He was a life-long member of Holy Family Parish and over the years was involved with the Boy Scouts, Little League, Knights of Columbus and Rotary clubs. He was especially fond of Tuesday night poker for over 40 years, as well as the Patriots and Red Sox. He is survived by his loving wife Pauline of sixty-five years; two sons, Scott Blair and wife Bonnie of Brunswick and Mark Blair and wife Mary Jane of Waltham, MA; two daughters, Michele Bowlan and husband Larry of Bangor and Kimberly Henderson and husband John also of Bangor; ten grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Timothy Blair and wife Emilie of Bangor, Joey Blair of Portland, Emma and Sophie Blair of Brunswick, Julian Bowlan of Boston and Brianna Bowlan of Bangor, Elizabeth Blair of Colorado and Alex Blair of Boston, Jillian and Garrett Henderson of Bangor. He is also survived by a brother Ronald and wife Mina, a sister Esther and husband Clayton Ryan, two sisters-in-law Barbara Blair of Old Town and Mary Blair of Veazie. brothers and sisters-in-law: Arthur and Lorraine Preble, Paul and Irene Martin of Old Town, Bill and Jeannette Webb of Bangor, Juliette Grant of Old Town, Richard and Carrie Martin of Ellsworth, Maurice and Amber Martin of Milford, Howard and Dorothy Folster of Enfield and Gail Johnson of Bangor. Also many nieces and nephews, and two special friends Dean and Sue Beaulieu of Old Town. He was predeceased by his parents Nazaire and Alma Blair, brother-in-law Donald and Sister Dorothy Foster and brother-in-law Maynard and sister Virginia Paradis, brothers Wallace and Gerald Blair, brothers-in-law: Gerald Martin and wife Evelyn, Wilfred Martin and Larry Grant. Friends may call 4-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where members of the Knights of Columbus will recite prayers at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Spring burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town with military honors. Immediately following the mass, all are invited to the Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
