OLD TOWN-- Richard “Rick” Martin, loving husband to Heather Martin and exceptional father to Charlie, passed away unexpectedly on February 27th, 2021. Rick was born in Calais, Maine on October 23rd, 1973, to Richard “Chip” and Dawn (Phelps) Martin.
Rick graduated from Old Town High school, and completed his automotive mechanic associate degree from WCCC. He not only owned and managed several apartment buildings in Old Town, but was meticulous in the care of the Galaxy Apartments properties and the tenants. His passions included auto mechanics, antique cars, model cars, Fords, and of course, his family. His willingness to help others at a moment’s notice, patience, calm demeanor in any storm, reliability under the most difficult circumstances, and strength are only a few of his may great qualities.
Rick was a dedicated parent at school, always assisting whenever possible, usually he was first in line to volunteer. He was an active part of the D.O.G.S. group at Old Town Elementary School.
Rick is survived by his wife, Heather, who it was said by many, they completed each other. He is also survived by his energetic, best friend, partner in crime, and son, Charlie. Another supportive foundation in his life are his parents, Chip and Dawn Martin of Argyle. He is also survived by his two sisters, and their families Julie and Seth Baker, and Melanie Martin. He had several nieces and nephews that he adored, Kaydence, Kristin, Cody, Baileigh, Austin; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rick will be missed by his second family, Ron and Cathy Goslin, their son Keenan, and multiple cousins. Rick is predeceased by his grandparents Margaret and Donald Phelps, and Mildred and Leo Martin.
Rick had 3 special friends that will miss him dearly, Pete and Laurie Harriman, Jason Bouchard and Derica Whitney, and meeting him in heaven, Travis Thibodeau. They all shared very special experiences and will cherish the memories to keep in their hearts.
Visiting Hours will be held at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town, Friday, March 5th, 2021 from 3-6pm. In compliance with CDC guidelines, please observe social distancing and wear a face covering. Please be aware that space may be limited at times to maintain the state mandated limits on the number of people allowed for an indoor gathering. A private funeral service will be held 2PM Saturday, March 6th. A link to the livestream will be given upon request to family. A public spring graveside at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town will be conducted 2PM Friday May 21, 2021
