Indian Island, ME, and Palmer, MA Karen Teresa Hunter, 76, died on August 19, 2018, at her residence. She was born on February 21, 1942, in Bridgeport, CT, a daughter of Clarence and Gloria (Ranco) Baer.
Karen was employed at area shoe shops before moving to Massachusetts where she was employed at Wing Memorial Hospital, Palmer, MA, for many years. Karen returned to Maine in 2004 and enjoyed frequent trips back to MA to visit her daughters. She will be remembered as a Dunkin Donuts freak and for playing cards with her "Golden girls".
She is survived by her two daughters, Vicki Hunter and her companion, Peter Merceri, of Monson, MA; and Christine Apraham and her husband, Jacob, of Ware, MA; her stepfather, Clarence Huchinson of Goffstown, NH; her four grandchildren, Ryan Hunter, Kylie and Kirsten Apraham, and Chance Merceri; her two brothers, Clarkie Baer of Indian Island, ME, and Michael Hutchinson and his wife, Arlene, of Manchester, NH; her former husband, William Hunter of Three Rivers, MA, and her son-in-law, Jeffrey Henry of Palmer, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Patrick Bear, Michael Bear, Rebecca Baer Stolkner, Linda Czzowitz, Donna Pellerin, Billy Baer, and infant twins, Janice and John Baer.
Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Indian Island.
