Joyce Brooks

ORONO—Joyce B. Brooks, 94, died peacefully August 12, 2022 at an Orono Health Care facility. She was born September 29, 1927 in Orono a daughter of Harold Edward Read and Hester Matilda (Keenan) Read.

Joyce was born and raised on the family farm in Orono. As a youth, she enjoyed spending summers with family in the Boston area. Joyce loved to socialize and dance. She was a member of Square Knots and Polka Dots square dancing group and Larry Dutch and the Boogie Buddies Line dancing group. She enjoyed camping, doing ceramics, being outside and especially working on her tan.

She is survived by four sons Blaine Brooks and his wife Jeanne, Michael Brooks and his wife Lorna, Gary brooks and his wife Cathy, and Ricky Brooks and his wife Betsy; 8 grandchildren chad Brooks, Amanda Brooks, April Beaudry, Jessica Brooks, Justin Brooks, Jamie Doucette, Sarah Decesere and Emily Herlihy; 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband George Earl Brooks in 1990, a grandson Jeffrey Brooks in 2018, and brother Harold R. Read.

Friends and family will gather 2:00PM- 3:00 PM Tuesday August 16, 2022 at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town. A graveside service will be conducted 3:30 PM Tuesday at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Town Animal Orphanage PO Box 565 Orono, ME 04473
