OLD TOWN—Eleanor Catherine Richards, 86, after several months of declining health passed away December 31, 2017 with family by her side. She was born December 28, 1931 in Bangor, the youngest of four girls to Leonard A. and Mary Catherine (McQuaid) Marshman.
Eleanor was a graduate of John Bapst High School. She married Ronald “Moose” Richards January 8, 1951. Eleanor was a social butterfly and was most happy when she was surrounded by people. She was a caring, giving person who was family centered. She worked at the Old Town Public Library for many years, supported many local causes, and was a self-proclaimed road runner. She and her husband enjoyed many years at their camp at Pushaw Lake, where many family memories were created, and many winters in St. Petersburg, FL. In 1990, they took a three month trip and traveled the country. She was an avid reader and Patriots fan. She was one of the originators of the Holy Family Funeral Luncheons.
She is survived by daughter Kathy Thompson and her husband Sam of Milford, sons Ronnie Richards and his wife Debbie of Otis, and Christopher Richards and his wife Christy of Portland, daughter-in-law Starr Richards of Greenfield; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald “Moose” Richards, son John Richards, and three sisters Hazel, Gloria, and Edith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Thursday at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town where a luncheon will follow immediately in the Parish Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Food Pantry 429 Main St Old Town, ME 04468
