Corinne was raised in Milford, Maine and graduated from Old Town High school. Corinne spent her early years after high school traveling and singing at nightclubs in New York before marrying the love of her life Chellis Smith Sr., and sharing 30 years of marriage in Howland, Maine before his passing. She worked at Burgoyne’s Store for many years but retired from the Bursar's office at University of Maine after almost 15 years of working there. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling with her friends to various parts of the country but especially loved her trips to Branson, Missouri. She was an avid football fan and could be found with her family on Sundays cheering loudly for her beloved Patriots. After her husband passed, she spent every Sunday evening with her closest friends playing cards and chatting about life. Retirement gave Corinne more opportunities to volunteer as a substitute teacher within the SAD 31 school district and help out her community on different organizations including Penobscot Valley Support Our School. Out of all the adventures and accomplishments, being a central part in her family’s lives was her greatest pride and joy.
Corinne is survived by her children Chellis Smith Jr; Bernie Smith and wife Debbie; her brother Wayne Currier and fiancée Sharon Kimball; her three grandchildren Victoria Smith; Shane Smith; Chelsie Smith and wife Meghan. Corinne is also survived by very special great-grandchildren Zoey, Kierra, Kallie and Sophie, as well as many nieces, a nephew, and many wonderful cousins. Corinne is predeceased by her husband Chellis; daughter Angela and great-granddaughter Jordynn. Many special thanks to the staff at Eastside Center For Health and Rehabilitation for the love and care provided to Corinne in her final years.
A celebration of Corinne’s life will be held at 4pm, Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town with Rev. Steve Smith, Celebrant.
