Old Town – Carolyn M. King, 67, passed away on August 4, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on July 29, 1944 in Old Town, the daughter of Raymond F. and Vera (Richards) Bishop.
Carolyn was a supervisor of the dormitory at the University of Maine in Orono. She was a member of the Pine Tree Snowmobile Club, Holy Family Church of the Resurrection of the Lord Parish, a Child of Mary, and also part of the Red Hat Society. Carolyn enjoyed crafts and camping with her family at Abol camp and at Branch Lake in Ellsworth.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Fred, Jr.; son, Mark Anthony King and his significant other Annette of Old Town; brother, Richard Bishop and wife Rose of R.I.; sister-in-laws, Patty Moreau and her husband Gene of Farmingdale and Sheila Pelletier of Stillwater; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn is predeceased by her brother Francis and his wife Carmen.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Cancer Care of Maine, especially, Dr. Andreescu, Jan Pinlotte, P.A., Nadine, Lee, Jackalin, Kim, Marcy, Janet, Jewels, Donna, Donna, Laura, and Tara, the wound care staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the staff on Grant 4 at E.M.M.C., the staff at New Hope Hospice in Eddington and all of Carolyn’s relatives and friends who gave so much of their love and prayers.
A memorial visitation will be held from 9am-11am on Monday, August 8 at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town were a prayer service will be held at 11am. Afterwards, all are invited to a light luncheon at the parish hall at Holy Family Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn’s honor may be made to the Cancer Care of Maine, Health Care Charities, P.O.
