Joe was born February 21, 1941, the only son of Luigi and Matilda Ricci, in Manhattan, N.Y. After graduating Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx in 1958, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army, receiving an Honorable Discharge. It was during his army service that he was first introduced to his love, Joan Barone, and the two were married in 1963. Joe spent the next three decades as an owner of Chauncey Metal, the family business.
Joe and Joan were blessed with three children: His son, Nicholas (Christine), and two daughters, Theresa (Michael) Pellini and Kristi-Ann (Drew) Carbone. Joe is survived by his seven grandchildren (Nicole, Danielle, Sophia, Lily, Josie, Joey and Tommy), a great-grandson (Jackson), and his sister, Gina Caridi.
Joe added to his family when he met his loving companion Ellen Button and moved to Canastota, N.Y., where he resided the rest of his life and was welcomed with love by Ellen’s three children, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and their many friends.
Joe loved the N.Y. Yankees and football Giants, and enjoyed playing and watching golf. He was very involved in the community during his 30 years in Valley Stream, N.Y., and belonged to the local Knights of Columbus and the Blessed Sacrament Athletic Association.
Joe was predeceased by his parents (Luigi and Matilda), his wife Joan and one older sister Marion. He will be deeply missed.
Family and friends may call Friday March 11th from 5-8 PM at the Swan Funeral Home 1224 Boston Post Rd Old Saybrook, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday March 12th at 9 AM in St John Church 161 Main St. Old Saybrook, CT 06475. Burial will be private.
Joe will be interred with military honors.
