John Joseph Sardo, Age: 75, husband of Arlene Sardo, since 1982, of Old Saybrook formerly of Seymour, CT passed away unexpectedly on February 18th, 2023 at home with his wife by his side. John was born on August 3rd, 1947 in Derby, CT to the late Albert and Constance (Bracnaro) Sardo previously residing in Shelton, CT.
He graduated from Sacred Heart University. Mr. Sardo was employed by Walbaum’s, retiring in 2005.
John was an avid UConn basketball, Giants, and Yankees fan. He loved to drive around Deep River, Essex, and Old Saybrook. He enjoyed carpentry and renovations. He loved traveling and visiting National Parks, and eschewed directions of any kind. He had a dry sense of humor and enjoyed plenty of Rodney Dangerfield one liners.
In addition to his wife, Arlene he is survived and will be dearly missed by his four sons: Erick and his wife Lisa of Ansonia, CT, Stephen and his partner Gretchen of Monroe, CT, Bryan and his wife Maura of Old Lyme, CT, and Geoff of Indianapolis; his five granddaughters: Cristina, Giovanna, Michelina, Everly, and CeCe; his three brothers and two sisters: Albert, Frank, Regina, Barbara, Joseph, along with their wives and husbands and John’s nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be on Saturday, February 25th from 10am to 1pm, followed by a memorial service at 1pm. Both the visitation hours and memorial service will be at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may also be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/).
