age of 51 on November 29, 2024, in Waterford, CT. Born in Meriden, CT, on April 16, 1973, he grew up on the water in Westbrook and in the mountains of Belmont, Vermont. Having family and friends gathering for parties and holidays on the water at Kiely’s Cottage in Westbrook are some of the family’s most cherished memories.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lori (Saucier) Kiely, his cherished spouse of 18 years; his beloved daughters who are his pride and joy, Madalyn (Maddie) Kiely and Taylor Kiely; loving parents, James and Shirley Kiely of Westbrook; sister, Kit (Maro) Zules; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who loved both the ocean and the mountains, spending countless hours boating, fishing and skiing with his girls. He also enjoyed hiking and was an avid deer hunter.
Jim loved spending time snowmobiling with his buddies through the Vermont mountains and into Canada, creating memories through many hilarious shenanigans. Jim loved traveling with family and enjoyed attending many “spontaneous” concerts with Lori.
Jim had a soft spot for his furry friends, treating each and every one like the valued family member they were/are. His furry companions, Toby and Augie, were often found right by Jim’s side, even when boating or hiking.
Jim was a dedicated arborist who worked as the branch manager at Savatree in Old Saybrook with colleagues that have become good friends. He also served as the Tree Warden of Old Saybrook.
A family man who loved his friends as family members, Jim lived his life with love, kindness, and compassion for others.
Calling hours will be held at Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook, on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. Services will be private.
