George Wilson Montie

George Wilson Montie, age 70, of Old Saybrook passed away on March 4, 2014 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. George was born in Hartford on February 22, 1944. Son of the late Wilson and Clara ( Daly) Montie. George was the owner and operator of The Cordial Shop in Old Saybrook from 1973-2001. He later worked as a caretaker at The Beach Club in Old Lyme. He was a hard worker. He enjoyed the good times and spending time by the water. He was always concerned about everyone's welfare. He was a fighter and loved life. He impacted many lives and will be missed by all. He is survived by his son Eric W. Montie of Bluffton, South Carolina, two sisters, Patricia M. Palma-Raymond of Little River, South Carolina and Jacqueline M. Hynes of Westerly, Rhode Island. He is also survived by his former wife of more than 30 years, Grace Montie of Middletown, and his good friend David Prilipp of Bloomfield. Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 2-4 pm, with services starting at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in George's memory to the Cardiac Care Unit of Hartford Hospital.
