Charles Woodrow Adams resident of Westbrook since 1971, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022. He was the widower of Martha Elizabeth Adams.
He was born on March 12, 1924, in Trenton, Missouri, the son of the late Earl and Mildred (Stephens) Adams.
Charles entered the Navy on November 2, 1942. He was designated a Naval Aviator and commissioned an Ensign in the Naval Reserve on October 16, 1944. He retired from the Navy in 1970. He volunteered at St. Mark's Food Pantry in Westbrook and at the Red Cross Blood Drive held at the Westbrook Elks Club.
Charles is survived by his son Charles Woodrow Adams, Jr., of Troutville, VA; his beloved companion Joann Popikas of Old Saybrook, and her daughter Mary Ellen Albro, also of Old Saybrook; his grandchildren Sara and Kate Sampson and K.C. and Dawn Adams.
He was also predeceased by his daughter Cynthia Sampson.
