John (Jack) Hartnett passed away peacefully in his sleep on 10 Nov 2023 after 93 wonderful years of a great life. Jack was born in Malden, MA (1 sister and 2 brothers) and lived in Old Lyme, CT for 60 years. Jack had an inherent Irish wit, always enjoyed a good laugh, and approached life on the brighter side which brought smiles to family and friends. Jack served in the Korean War with the US Navy on submarines, earned a BSEE degree and worked for the US Government specializing in the field of electromagnetic interference protection. Jack enjoyed running, golf, chess, horse racing and family. Jack married Lee in 1963 and had daughter Kelly who brought him grandson Zach. After retirement, Jack found a new passion of painting. Jack happily relaxed in his basement for hours listening to multiple TV’s, eating chocolate delights and making beautiful paintings of people, animals and space. Jack will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched. The burial will be a private family ceremony. A memorial dinner is in the planning phase.
