Thomas Owen West, Sr., 84, of Hermitage, Tennessee, passed away on February 8, 2022. Mr. West was born in Springfield, Tennessee on July 21, 1937 to parents, Douglas and Leo West. He lived in Springfield until he found the love of his life, Patsy Head. They married and moved to the Nashville area.
Mr. West served in the Air National Guard for many years. Being an outdoorsman, he was an avid fisherman, a golfer, and a big fan of the Tennessee Titans football team. He enjoyed working in his yard, but nothing compared to the joy he received from playing with his grandchildren. Mr. West was very congenial and enjoyed engaging friends and neighbors in conversation.
Mr. West is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas West and Leo (Cole) West; a son, Thomas West, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Patsy West; daughters Vickie West and Sharon West; Grandsons Jacob Dicus (Jessica), Marshall Russell (Shay Parker, fiancé), Tyrone Fluellen, and Jason Fluellen; sister, Catherine Lee; brother Larry West (Carolyn); and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 11am until 1pm at Hermitage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Tulip Grove Room at 1pm, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Forrest Jackson officiating. Following the Celebration of Life, Mr. West will be laid to rest in the Garden of Devotion at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
