

Mr. Wharton served our country by serving in the United States Army and is a Veteran of the Korean War. Professionally, he was a hardware manufacturing sales representative for 33 years. He volunteered 13 years at BNA (Berry Field Nashville) for with the Flying Aces.
Mr. Wharton was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60+ years as a 3rd Degree Mason. In his spare time, being a lifelong fan, he continued to be an avid fan and supporter of the "VOLS" from the University of Tennessee. But his favorite past-time was loving and spending time with this family and friends. In addition to his family, he never lost his enjoyment in flying as a private pilot and traveling.
Mr. Wharton is preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Wharton; mother, Paula Dobson; step-mother, Faye Wharton; his loving wife of 57 years, Bobbie Wharton; and son, Alan Wharton.
Mr. Wharton is survived by his brother, Joe Dobson (Rita); daughter, Karen Mayo; grandchildren Steven Craig (Kristen), Marc Mayo (Jerrica), Hunter Wharton (Whitney), Corey Moffitt (Brian); 11 great-grandchildren Wade, Sean, Hayden, Blake, Kinsley, Zeke, Zoe, Jud, Adley, Lyla Mae, and Wyatt.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends at Hermitage Funeral Home from 10:45 AM - 12:45 PM followed by burial at 1:00 PM in the Garden of the Apostles at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Chaplain Robert Gill with Gentiva Hospice will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org, in Mr. Wharton's memory.
