Mary Alice (Goins) Davis, 97, of Leesburg, Florida, was called home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2024. Mrs. Davis was born on April 27, 1927, in White Bluff, Tennessee to parents, Samuel Lee and Ollie Goins.
A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Mary was a devoted Christian and prayer warrior and a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. An adventurer at heart, Mary enjoyed traveling, shopping, dining, live music, and museums. She will be remembered for her strong faith, her deep and unconditional love for her family, and her vibrant spirit and sense of humor. Although she will be greatly missed, we take comfort in knowing her memory and legacy will live on through those who knew and loved her.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Lee Goins; her mother, Ollie Miller Goins; her husband, Kenneth Davis; her daughter, Kay Nickolson; her grandson, Jonathan Marshall; her sisters, Francis Creech and Betty Sue Walker; her brothers, Charlie Goins, Willard Goins, William “Bill” Goins, Calvin “Boots” Goins, Curtis Goins, Jesse B. Goins, Harold Goins, Gerald Goins, Sammie Goins, and Samuel Lee Goins, Jr.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Sandra Howard; her son, Kenneth Davis, Jr. (Debbie); her daughter, Diane Oakley; her son, Neal Davis; her grandchildren Brad, Elaine, Shone, William, Brian, Stephen, Brent, Aquarius, Bill, Christy, Shay, Tamara; her sisters, Elsie Mason, Ruth Cole, Mildred Page; her brothers, Rayford Goins, and Kenneth Wayne Goins. Mary also leaves behind twenty-five great grandchildren and fourteen great greatgrandchildren.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Tuesday, October 22, in the Rachel Visitation Room at Hermitage Funeral Home from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. There will be a Celebration of Mary’s Life on Wednesday, October 23, at 2:00 PM in the Tulip Grove Chapel at the funeral home with Mike Baker, pastor of the Green Hill Church of Christ, officiating. Following the service, Mary will be laid to rest in the Garden of Everlasting Life at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
