James Wilbur “Jim” Lusk, originally from Walhalla, SC, and a long standing resident of Hendersonville, TN, was taken home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 25, 2020, at the age of 80.
Mr. Lusk is survived by his “darling” wife, Teresa Lusk, children: Zonell Tateishi (Jay), Kenneth “Shayne” Lusk (Laura), Jean Engelen. LaVette Page (Mark), Kevin Lusk, Donna Carter (Steve); step-daughters Karen Boyce (Ray), Jamie Head; and his brother Dennis Breedlove (Louise). He also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Shirley Laverne Lusk.
Along with being a treasured husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jim was a devoted Army veteran with twenty years of dedicated service to his country. He earned several prestigious accommodations during his domestic and international service including 6 Good Conduct medals, National Defense Service medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, Vietnam Service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry medal, 3 Army Achievement medals, 3 Overseas Service ribbons, Army Service ribbon, 3 NCO Professional Development ribbons, 3 Army Commendation medals and a Meritorious Service medal. His family proudly continues to serve in various branches of the military.
In addition to his amazing military career, Jim is an accomplished and awarded musician, song writer and publisher. His accolades include being inducted as a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame and received the 2011 Atlanta Society of Entertainers Award for RECORDING ARTIST OF THE YEAR. He has even written and recorded with renowned Grammy winner Gary S. Paxton, Sr. In his later years, he continued to find success with CMG Radio and received several awards.
Private services will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
