Darlene was a devout, born-again Christ follower. She loved the Lord and endeavored to carry His light into her world. She loved her country and with several family members who served or are serving in the armed forces, she was very patriotic and proudly displayed love for her country by attending every Veteran’s Day Parade, displaying all forms of “red, white, and blue”, and worked every year sending Christmas stockings to soldiers. She was devoted and committed to her family. She was also a big supporter/chaperone for high school band trips, music concerts, and sports events. Her grandchildren knew her as “Granny Hurst” which eventually evolved into “Nano” . . . but she was “Mom” to everyone – whether blood-relation or not. She was very giving . . . to anyone . . . at any time.
For years, Darlene worked as an Information Technician (IT) for the Tractor Supply Company. She also showed her love and compassion by working as a CASA Worker (Court-Appointed Special Advocate) for Children.
