Gary Donald Butler

Gary Butler, age 78, was a long time resident of Mt. Juliet. Preceded in death by son, Gary Donald Butler, Jr., parents, Homer Virgil Butler and Florence Leola Shavers Butler. Sisters, Dollie Mae Butler Kroff and Helen Fuller, Brother Michael Butler. Chosen son, Jim (Vickie) Wolfenbarger.

Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Brenda Proctor Butler, Sons Tim (Jill) Butler, Bo (Hillary) Butler, daughter, Michelle Butler. Chosen sons, Bill (Patricia) Wolfenbarger, Rick (Kathy) Wolfenbarger. Grandchildren: Kasee (Dusty) Preston, Kerry Armbruster, Kristi (Adam) Petty, Zack (Nicole)Butler, Julia (Lance) Green, Jenna Butler, Ryan (Kiko) Hudnall, Kirbi (Jacob)Wrye, Juniper (Anthony) Ussery, Grant Thompson. Great-grandchildren: Caleb Rogers, Ethan Elkins, Luke Elkins, Ava Preston, Tori Armbruster, Taylor Armbruster, Anita Armbruster, Kamron Armbruster, Emma Jean Petty, Poppy Petty, Neyland Butler, Addie Butler, Layla Green, Liam Hudnall, Maya Hudnall, Willow Ussery and Julian Ussery. Brothers: Homer Butler Jr, John Butler, Larry Butler and Bobby Butler. Sisters: Evelyn Butler Tucker, Wilma Butler Pritchett and Mary Lou Butler Adams.

Gary served his country in the United States Airforce from 1961-1970. He was Ground Radio Equipment Repairman. He was stationed in lots of states including tours in the Panama Canal Zone, Columbia and Brazil.

Gary retired from Nortel Networks in 2001, then retired from AT&T in 2011.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His greatest passion was helping others. He loved his family and would do anything for them. He will be sorely missed by all of us, but we know that now, he is struggling no more – He is with Jesus. Gary was loved by so many.
