Eunice Carolynn Castleman Payne passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024 at the age of 81. She is preceded in death by her father, E.W. Castleman, mother, Bertha Wright Castleman, brother, Charles (Tiny) Castleman and a grandson, Jesse Lee Jones. She leaves behind many friends and family who will miss her greatly including her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Leesa Payne Fort (Tyrus), Joy Payne Jones (Richie), a grandson and granddaughter whom she cherished deeply, Joseph Payne and Olivia Jones, A brother, Kenneth Castleman (Fran), and two sisters, Faye Kay and Louise Wheeler, their sibling bond was extraordinary. She also leaves behind the father of her children, Edward L. Payne, Jr., and a host of caring nieces and nephews.
Carolynn was a long-time member of Center Chapel Church of Christ in Mt. Juliet, TN. until she recently rejoined the church in which she was raised and where her father served as an elder, Central Pike Church of Christ in Hermitage, TN. She was a pure example of a Christian woman. She gave her last many times to help others. We can only hope to be nearly as good as she. She took care of her family, and through her struggles, she always came out on the other side including this last time, waking up to find herself with JESUS.
Carolynn graduated from Donelson High School in 1961 and went to work for National Life insurance in Nashville, TN. where she was employed for many years until she took on her most important role as a mother and then grandmother. She later went to work for Howard Rawlings Antiques in Mt. Juliet and then the Apple Barn at Opry Mills where she formed many lasting friendships.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday Oct. 9th from 4-7 pm. at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138
There will also be time to visit with the family on Thursday Oct. 10th from 10-11 am. Funeral services at 11:00. Visitation and services on Thursday will be held at Central Pike Church of Christ, 4240 Central Pike, Hermitage, TN. 37076. Bro. Jerry Sawyer officiating. Interment following the funeral service at Hermitage Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Everlasting Life. Active Pallbearers are Joseph Payne, Richie Jones, Tyrus Fort, David Kay, Matthew Firkins, Mike Firkins and Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Denny, Adrian Muniz, Bill Wolfenbarger, and Tim Denny.
