Donnie is preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Chance Young; parents, Thaxton and Wanda Young, brother, Garry Young and sister, Kim Goins.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gina Young; son, Heath Young and his wife, Lee; daughter, Amber Presley and her husband, Josh; grandchildren, Kinsey Bradley, Addy (Parker) Jackson, Ella Young, Scarlett Presley, Knox Presley as well as several nieces and nephews.
Donnie retired as Captain from the Nashville Fire Department after 35 years of service. Over his career with the department, he received several commendation awards. In 1985, he received the Public Service Award by the Nashville Banner and Outstanding Fireman award by the Nashville Association of Insurance Women.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, golfing and camping. One of his most successful hunts was when he harvested a six by six bull elk in Colorado, a massive achievement for any hunter. He enjoyed camping with family and friends; especially at Fall Creek Falls. He also enjoyed his time playing golf at Two Rivers Golf Course. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37138. A private service will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
