CREASMAN, Debra Louise, age 57 passed on to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 12, 2010 after a long battle with breast cancer. She lived in Mt. Juliet with her husband, Richard Phillips. Proceeding Debra in death was her son, Phillip B. Hance, who passed after birth; her father, Francis “Dub” Creasman, and her grandparents, Reverend and Mrs. Louise Jollay of Hixson, TN. Debra is survived by her husband, three step-children, Richard L. Phillips, Bethanie Joy Phillips, and Elizabeth Nicole Phillips, her mother, Mrs. Dorothy Creasman, her brother and sister-in-law David and Deborah Creasman, her uncle and aunt, Ernest and Jean Jollay, a niece, Leah Collen Creasman and several cousins in Hixson, TN. Debra graduated with honors in 1971 from Antioch High School and was alumni at both MTSU and Belmont University where she was listed among the Who’s Who in American Colleges. She worked at Vanderbilt for 29 years. In her tenure, she was the supervisor of Printing Services for 13 years and then served for 16 years as Director of Public Relations at Blair School of Music. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, she was treated at the Breast Cancer Center at Vanderbilt. Having been so impressed with the nurses and the kind loving care that she received at Vanderbilt, she earned her LPN at Volunteer State Community College. Graduating second in her class at age 50, she went on to complete her RN at Columbia State University. Her last year was spent at the Breast Center at Vanderbilt working with patients like herself. Her only regret in life…was that she did not have more time to continue her work as a cancer nurse. Debra and Rick are members of Cook’s United Methodist Church in Mt. Juliet. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m. August 14, 2010, at Hermitage Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Stevenson officiating, interment to follow in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. May we all learn from the smile that she kept on her face---and the gleam in her eyes.
