Bill was born March 11, 1942, in Hilham, Tennessee, son of F. A. and Lucille Hall. He attended DuPont High School in Old Hickory, graduating in 1960. He joined the United States Navy that year and spent his career there, retiring in 1981 as a Master Chief. On April 3, 1964, he married Judy Whitehead Hall, who died May 28, 1999. Bill owned Hall's Carburetor at 11th and Fatherland in East Nashville, operating the business for more than twenty years.
Bill was a true patriot, a man of his word who served his country proudly and admirably, someone to whom duty and honor meant everything. He loved hunting and was a proud and loving dog owner. He lived in Hermitage for forty years and was known as a true friend and great neighbor, someone willing to help anyone in need, whether it was repairing a vehicle, mowing a lawn, cutting trees, making grocery runs, or giving rides. He was an avid gardener who gave away much of what he grew to friends, relatives, and neighbors.
Bill is survived by his daughters Lynn Hix (Steve) and Pam Kiestler (Jeff); and by his grandson, Josh Hix.
There will be a Memorial Service with Military Honors for family and friends in the chapel of the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane in Nashville on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Hall family at HermitageFH.com.
