Joseph A. Thomas, 82, of Aberdeen died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, NJ. Born in Manila, Philippines he lived in Bayside, New York before moving to Aberdeen 8 years ago. Joseph was executive recruiter of Atwood Vandell Associates in New York City before retiring in 1995. He was a Korean War US Army veteran and recipient of the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Thomas was an alumnus of Cornell University and member of the Cornell Society of Hotelmen. He was an avid participant in the Partridge Invitational Scholarship Association of New York City.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (Crawford) of 53 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph A. & Elaine Thomas of Charlottesville, VA; his daughter and son-in-law Julia & Christopher Hobson of Old Bridge and his sister Ellen Phillips of La Mesa, CA. Also surviving are Mr. Thomas’ six cherished grandchildren; Taylor, Kyle & Morgan Thomas and Sean, Kathryn & Connor Hobson.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend funeral services 8:30 am Friday, November 29, 2013 at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Highway 9, Old Bridge, NJ 08857 followed by a 10:30 am Chapel Service at Brigadier William C.
