John J. Petrik, 72, of Old Bridge Entered into Eternal Rest Monday, August 17, 2015 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, NJ. Born in Plainfield, NJ to the late John J. and Emma (Seifert) Petrik, Sr., John lived throughout the Greater New Jersey area and settled in Old Bridge 20 years ago.
John was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy. As part of his service and dedication to our country he served as radio man on-ground in Saigon, Vietnam. He later became a member of the Tin Can Sailors (The National Association of Destroyer Veterans).
John worked for the Brick Township Police Department, the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department and Schneider Trucking in Carteret, NJ.
John had several interests and loves; he was an antique car enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling and photography and would take several photos during his vacation road trips. He enjoyed crabbing and country music. John also loved to watch old westerns, especially those starring John Wayne.
John is predeceased by his first love, his wife Sandra Butler Petrik (2003) and his second wife, his beloved Kathleen (De Pre) Petrik (2010). He is survived by his children Thomas (and his wife Janet) Petrik of Millstone Twp., NJ; Michael (and his wife Michele) Petrik of Brick, NJ; Michelle Petrik of Florence, NJ; his step-children David Bengraff of Orlando, FL; Renee (and the late John) Hogan of Whiting, NJ; his dear siblings James (and his wife Patricia) Petrik of South Brunswick, NJ; Joseph (and his wife Arlene) Petrik of Yahala, FL; Richard Fox of Salem, VA; William Fanning of Pacifica, CA; Sally (and her husband Ray) Martin of Readington, NJ; Teresa Muraszko of Cream Ridge, NJ; Carol Petrik of Warren, NJ; Diane (and her husband Phil Huben) Petrik of Williamsville, NY; his sister-in-law Patty (and her husband Larry) Lovrich of Monroe Twsp., NJ; his brother-in-law Keith (and his wife Lori) De Pre of Wind Gap, PA and his step-mother Marion Petrik of Freehold, NJ. John also leaves behind several cherished grandchildren and nieces & nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation Friday, August 21, 2015 from 4pm to 7pm at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home 3377 US Highway 9 Old Bridge, NJ 08857. A Funeral Prayer service will be held 10am Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the funeral home immediately followed by a committal service with military honors in Forest Green Park Cemetery, 535 Texas Rd. Morganville, NJ 07751.
