Vera Ellen Dalrymple, 93, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met.
Vera was born on August 2, 1920 in Tabor, Iowa to Edward Franklin and Pearl Amy (McCoy) Grosse. She attended and graduated from Randolph, IA High School. She married Maxwell Dalrymple and together they raised their four children, Stanley, Clarence(Bill), Lyman(Jerry) and Pamela. Vera worked 16 years as a proof reader for the Olathe Daily News before retiring in November of 1986.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading, singing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Pearl Grosse, husband Maxwell Dalrymple who passed away on November 2, 1984, loving son Clarence William Dalrymple, granddaughter Laura Mabrey, grandson Nathan Smith, daughter-in-law Mary Diane Dalrymple and son-in-law Allen Eastland.
Survivors include her loving and devoted children: Stanley Dalrymple of Olathe, Kansas, Lyman Jerry Dalrymple of Indio, California and Pamela Morris of Lawrence, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her 13 grandchildren and their spouses: Sheri West, David Dalrymple, Joseph Dalrymple (Stacy), Linda Ladrigue (Pat), Keith Smith, Mona Maroon (Charlie), Tammy Smith, Lisa Ferguson, Laurie Mabrey(deceased), Michael Mabrey (Darla), Megan Favinger (Brandon), Micheal Eastland (Julie) and Derek Eastland (Sarah). She will be sadly missed by her great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Vera is also survived by her one remaining loving sister Neva Marjorie Frede of Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street, Olathe, Kansas. Interment in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens 13901 Black Bob Road Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be Friday, July 11th 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
