Roy Fred Blackburn, 82, of Olathe, KS, passed away on February 23, 2020. Born in Strong City, OK, Roy went on to serve in the US Navy for 6 years. Afterwards, Roy served the Johnson County District #2 as a Firefighter Officer for 25 years. Upon retirement from fire service, he spent 10 years with Kampgrounds of America.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Clauda and Fred Blackburn, and sisters Ella Hale and Barbara Blackburn.
He married his beloved wife Carol on Oct 16, 1964 and is survived by her. Other survivors include son Rod (Vicki) Blackburn, daughter Kendra Taylor, sister Vera Cordes, granddaughters Kaylyn Taylor, Kelsey Taylor, and Bailie Blackburn, grandson Devin Taylor, step granddaughters Kristin (Sam) Francis, Kate Jensen, Kelsey Jensen, step great-granddaughters Ella Francis and Harlie Francis, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E Loula St, Olathe, KS on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, with reception following burial service at Prairie Center Church of God, 105 S Montclaire Dr, Olathe, KS.
