Karen was preceded in death by her husband James Ralph Gilliand. They were married on September 5, 1969 and resided in Olathe.
Karen graduated from Olathe High School in 1964. She went on to work for Smith and Loveless Inc. in Lenexa for over 50 years. Karen loved to travel, and was always up for the next adventure in her beloved Denmark and England.
She is survived by daughter Dana Irene Seiler, grandchildren Gareth and Sophie Seiler, sister Kathy Reust, and brother Richard Langdon. Karen’s extended surviving family includes nephews Rick, Stewart, Greg Langdon and niece Robin from Richard Langdon’s line; nephews Thomas and Daniel Reust from Kathy Reust’s line along with Kathy’s husband Robert; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jean and Joe Heer with nephew Jack Heer and his wife Amy. Jack and Amy Heer have two children, Emily and Jolie Heer.
A memorial service is being held for Karen at the Kaw Prairie Community Church from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 23rd at 9421 Meadow View Drive in Lenexa. The family is asking well-wishers to bring a donation for the local ASPCA in lieu of flowers at the ceremony.
