On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, our beloved mother went to be with the Lord. Josephine M. Kikwau was born August 8th, 1958. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Kiilu Kikwau and the late mama, Anna Jaenah Ndunda, in Machackos, Kenya. She was a sister to Pascalina Ndinda Mwau, Rose Mbete Kaloki, Hellen Kanini Kiilu, Judy Katunge Maliti, Jane Mwelu Hassan, and Moses Mutua Kiilu, and an Aunty to many.
She attended Mang'auni Primary School, then proceeded to Mwala Secondary School, Machakos where she did her O’Level. There after she went to college and later joined Kenya Revenue Authority where she worked in various locations, including Mombasa, Taveta, Embakasi, and her final station at Loitokitok where she worked before leaving for U.S.A in 2000.
Josephine was blessed with four children: Purity W. Kaboe, Ruth M. Kaboe, Alice N. Kaboe, and Elijah M. Kaboe. She was also a proud grandmother to three grandchildren Pendo Mueni, Theo Muriuki and Ashley Mueni.
A devout Christian, Josephine was a member of AIC Langata Barracks choir while in Kenya. Upon relocating to the USA, she joined Neema Community Church, where she continued her spiritual journey until her passing.
She was a woman whose vibrant spirit illuminated every room she entered, whose laughter was infectious, and whose love knew no bounds. Josephine, our beloved mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and lovely friend was a true force of joy and light in our lives, weaving together the threads of cooking, singing, dancing, and boundless love into the tapestry of our cherished memories.
Her kitchen was a sanctuary of aromas and flavors, where she poured her heart and soul into every Chapo and mandazi’s, infusing each meal with love and care. The melodies of her songs filled our home, her voice a soothing balm to our hearts, and her dance moves a joyful expression of her zest for life.
But beyond her culinary creations, her melodious tunes, and her graceful dance steps, it was her unwavering love and devotion that truly defined her. Her presence was a beacon of warmth and comfort, her hugs a source of solace, and her words a wellspring of wisdom and guidance. She nurtured us with her love, encouraged us with her laughter, and inspired us with her strength.
In every beat of her favorite song, in every aroma that lingers in the kitchen, in every dance step that echoes in our memories, we feel her spirit alive and thriving. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her love, her laughter, and her zest for life continue to resonate within us, guiding us, comforting us, and inspiring us to live each day with the same passion and joy that she embodied.
As we bid farewell to our beloved mother, we carry with us the legacy of her love, the echoes of her songs, the memories of her dances, and the warmth of her kitchen. She will forever remain in our hearts as a shining example of a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a spirit that continues to dance, sing, and cook its way into eternity. Her strength in the face of her illnesses was a testament to her character and her unwavering spirit. May we all forever be inspired to face our own challenges with the same unwavering determination and fortitude.
Rest in peace, dear mother, knowing that your love and light will forever illuminate our lives and guide us through the journey ahead. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy of love and joy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know you.
