James Marnie Riggs, 69, of Lenexa, Kansas passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 22, 2015. He will forever be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he met.
Jim was born on March 31, 1946 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Howard C. and Everill A. (Ferreria) Riggs. He attended and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Shawnee, Kansas. Jim married Connie Otto in September of 1965. Through this union their son Rodney was born. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967. Jim worked as a truck driver for Delco Battery. Shortly after he worked for Sega Inc., an engineering and technical service company. He was a dedicated employee for over 25 years. Jim was also an avid mechanic. He worked out of his workshop painting and restoring cars. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
James is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Everill Riggs. He is survived by his son, Rodney Riggs of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his three grandchildren: Anthony Riggs, Lace Riggs and Harley Fisher. Jim is also survived by his brother, Charles Riggs of Olathe, Kansas, four sisters, Anna Richardson of Olathe, Kansas, Susan Breon of Olathe, Kansas, Paula Harper of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Joan Riggs of Rockville, Maryland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 28th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 13615 West 92nd Street Lenexa, Kansas. Interment in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery 19800 West 159th Street Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas.
