Eugene Marvin Coleman passed away on June 4, 2021, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Beaver, Oklahoma on November 7, 1942, to Marvin and Fern Coleman. Gene graduated from Beaver High School in 1960 and Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology on April 22, 1964. Gene entered the Army on December 9, 1964, and served in Vietnam. He was discharged on December 9, 1966. While in the service, he was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Expert Rifle Medal. Gene was a union Pipefitter for 51 years.
Gene married Joyce Delana on November 3, 1967, and was the father of Kevin, Christie, and Todd. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alberta Perry, brother Jerry Coleman, in-laws Everett and Melvina Delana and son Kevin Coleman.
Gene was known to all as the man who could fix just about anything and was always more than happy to come to the aid of a family member or friend who needed with repairs, especially on cars, air conditioners and anything electrical.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and was a walking encyclopedia on Route 66. Despite being soft-spoken, he had a fun sense of humor and was a fan of a good joke. Even though he was always watching his carb intake, he loved brats, brat burgers, hamburgers, and ice cream.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Gene’s name to Good Shepherd Hospice.
