Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Billingsley and Robert Grider; her brother, William Billingsley Jr.; and her husband, Harold Wallace. She is survived by her daughter, Leesa Wallace; her son, Harold "Dusty" Wallace Jr; her grandson, Dakota "Cody" Wallace, and members of her chosen family.
Debbie started her career as a mother, babysitter, resident Oregon Trail Pool Mom, and avid book reader. Her favorite kid's book was "The Monster at the End of This Book". Many of the families she baby/kidsat for, became part of her chosen family for life. As a mom and a mom to others, she could be super fun and super challenging, but at the core, it was all based on love and being loved. If we could all learn to spread love and laugh more the world would be better for it.
As Leesa and Dusty got older, Debbie joined her mom as a bus driver for the Olathe School District. Oh! The stories she could tell and the many lives she positively affected, forever bonded and saved us to live another day!
During one of her life transitions, Debbie made the career move to the Johnson County Clerk's Office as a Real Estate Specialist and made fast friends with the "Girls"; Gert Christman, Sylvia Nordhus, and Sue Graves; who shared life-long lunches and many a Las Vegas Girls Trip!
As an empty nester, Debbie made the move to Sprint/CenturyLink first as a 911 operator then as a NOC Tech Analyst on the overnight shift before retiring. She loved the overnight team and had fun joking and working with field techs all over the country to fix services for customers.
Debbie weathered a lot of ups and downs and tragedies in her life and through it all, kept her sense of humor and helped others do the same.
She lived for vacations and always lived by the more the merrier philosophy! She had fun wherever she went and she always made sure everyone else did too! Many a time she included her chosen family in her adventures from The Ducks to Las Vegas to Hawaii. She loved her family and took special trips with her daughter, Leesa and her grandson, Dakota to see and explore new places. She even made a couple of "Thelma and Louise" cross country road trips (without the tragic ending) with her life long friend, Lois McKimmey. Oh! The stories that could be told about her vacations with all the special people in her life. Even trips to the store or out to dinner could turn into hilarious stories we all still laugh about.
We loved that lady and will miss her greatly and are thankful she was a part of our lives!
Her last hurrah will be one where "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!" Lookout Vegas!
In lieu of a service and flowers, go out and spread some love, laugh with the people you love, share your stories and take a vacation with your family or your chosen family. Remember any mischief on your vacation is Deb sharing her fun spirit with a twinkle in her eye from the other side and her having a good laugh with you!
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.McGilley-Frye.com for the Wallace family.
