David Leroy Richards was born on December 25, 1957, in East Saint Louis, IL to the late William Booker T. and Monie (Brown) Richards. He was the youngest of 8 children. He is preceded in death by his brothers T.C. Richard, Arthur Richards and William T. Richards and his sister Gertrude Richards.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.
David attended school in the East St. Louis School District and worked hard for over 30 years in construction going above and beyond with a smile.
On May 3, 1996, he married Ursalla Price and moved to Kansas City where he became a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan. David also enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, gardening, and talking with family and friends.
David departed this life peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2023, at home in Olathe, KS.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mrs. Ursalla Richards, Olathe, KS; 6 children Jennifer (Antoine) Nicholson-Lewis, Danny Watts, Carvett Watts, Harriette (Anglus) Richards-Walker and Catrina Watts, all out of Milwaukee, WI; 1 brother Gary (Regina) Richard of Madison, IL; 2 sisters, Deanna (James) Davis of East St. Louis, IL and Deborah (the late Donnell) Wilson of Springfield, IL; 22 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, numerous of cousins, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends who he loved dearly.
A visitation will be held Saturday, December 23, from 11 AM-3 PM at McGilley and Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula St., Olathe, KS 66061.
