He was born on January 8, 1932 in Logan, Illinois to Marion Lee Pemberton and Jeanette (Bolen) Pemberton, and was raised in Kincaid where he graduated from South Fork Community High School in 1950.
In 1952, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served for 22 years, retiring in 1974 with the rank of Master Sergeant. After retirement from the Marine Corps, he worked 14 years as a supervisor of computer system analysts as a civilian employee for the Marine Corps in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Harry Isaacs, two brothers, Frank and Ronald Isaacs, and one sister, Linda. Charles is survived by five children, one son William Pemberton of Kansas City, Missouri, and four daughters, Jeannette Pemberton of Kansas City, Kansas, Linda Pemberton of Olathe, Kansas, Shelly Pemberton of Kansas City, Kansas, and Rhonda Elliott and husband Porter Elliott, of Wilton, Wisconsin. He also leaves six grandsons, Travis Charles Pemberton and wife Chelsea of Arlington, Texas, Michael Pemberton of Hastings, Nebraska, Derec Pemberton of Kansas City, Kansas, Porter and Dylan Elliott of Wilton, Wisconsin, and Timothy Pearson of Houston, Texas, and one great grandson, Oliver Charles Pemberton of Hastings, Nebraska.
