Annamae Saunders, 86, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, granny, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to everyone she knew.
Annamae was born on November 1, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles and Anna Belle (Felix) Owens. She attended and graduated from Wyandotte High School. She met the love of her life Robert Edward Saunders and they were married on February 6, 1955. Together they raised their three children, Debra, “Eddie” and Anna.
Annamae was a homemaker. Her family and grandchildren were very important to her and caring for them, gave her much to be thankful for. Annamae was a dedicated member of the Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, playing dice with her family, cooking, baking and ceramics. She will be sadly missed.
Loving husband of forty-six years, Robert Edward Saunders who passed away in October of 2003, parents, Charles and Anna Belle Owens, two brothers, Jack Owens, Bud Owens and two sisters, Rosemary Schoch and Dorothy Kiefer precede her in death. Her three children, Debra Sue Martin and her husband Tom of Olathe, Kansas, William Edward “Eddie” Saunders and his wife Patti of Apollo Beach, Florida and Anna L. Bukovaz and her husband Keith of Olathe, Kansas survive her. Left behind to cherish her memory are her six grandchildren, Sarah Ann Martin, Lisa Marie Martin, David James Bukovaz, Rebecca Lynn Lopez (Darren), Elizabeth Michelle Adams (Curtis), Rachel Christine Saunders and three great grandchildren, Lilly Juliette Lahoz-Martin, Henry James Mizell and Peyton Elizabeth Lopez. Annamae is also survived by her brother Bob Owens and his wife Carol of Bonner Springs, Kansas and her sister Patricia Brockelman of Wichita, Kansas.
Funeral Service 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2022 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Interment 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, October 4, 2022, Annamae will be joined with her husband Robert Saunders in Leavenworth National Cemetery 150 Muncie Road Leavenworth, Kansas 66048. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2nd at the funeral home.
