William Cecil Lawson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 7, 2011 at the age of 98. He was born March 26, 1913 to Grover and Ruby Lawson in Arkansas. W. C. “Cecil” aka Kingfish to his friends loved to fish, work in his garden and grow beautiful roses. Cecil had many jobs prior to settling in as a carpenter. He worked for the Meadow Gold Milk Company and McDonald Douglas Aircraft during WWII where he met the love of his life, Elsie Tyler. As a carpenter, Cecil and Elsie built their home and loved helping widows and others in need. Cecil came to know the Lord at age 18 and developed a very strong relationship with his Heavenly Father. It was often said that he had a direct line to God and was evident by his willingness to pray and lay hands on all those that would call. W.C. is survived by his two daughters, Celia Kay and husband, Claude Obar of Edmond, OK; daughter, LaRita Franks of California and one son, Rick Lawson and wife Carmen of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-children. We will miss you Papa, however we know that you are where you have been wanting to go. Say hello to Grandma from all of us. Public visitation will take place at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Friday, April 8, 2011 from 4pm-8pm; Saturday 8am-8pm; and Sunday 8am-8pm.
