Wanda Louise Philpot was born on July 25, 1929 to Corrine and Rube Philpot. She was their first born. She had a younger sister Betty Jean Philpot Hyman deceased and Brother Jerry Don and wife Debi Philpot of Eufaula, Oklahoma. Wanda graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1947 and the next day married James Edward Butler.
She was married 45 years to James when he passed in 1991. She later married Gerald Bibb who passed 3 years later.
She is survived by 2 daughters Linda Caryl Lancaster-Bayles, and Terri Lynn Montgomery-Van Buren. She adored all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her Honey.
Wanda was a typical post Korean War wife. She worked along with her husband to raise a family. She was active in her Church, Brownies, Girl Scotts, Rainbow, Cheerleading and anything else that her girls were active in. As a family they made weekends the Lake, where everyone learned to fish, ski, camp and take sunburning in stride. Later in life Dad took up flying and we made many trips all over in the plane.
Wanda was a very talented lady. She could sew without a pattern, knit, decorate everything from Christmas box tops to beautiful tables and of course our home. She loved to give parties and it didn't matter if it was a Come as you were when you were 3. Or Dad's business associates each was an event to be remembered. She worked for the IRS until retirement, never letting it get in the way of her many Bridge games.
She moved to Imperial Terrace Condominiums 11 years ago and has enjoyed all the many friends that she made while she lived there. She loved the little dogs as she did the people and always had treats for them when they walked by her patio. She died peacefully in her sleep in her home.
A graveside service for Wanda will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N. Kelley Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MemorialParkOKC.com for the Bibb family.
