Wallace Leonard Goodwin, age 96 of Deming, N.M. passed away on October 26, 2015. He was born in Caldwell, Idaho on April 16, 1919 to Essie and Leonard Goodwin. Wallace (Wally) served in the U.S. Army from August 1943 to February 1946 in the Pacific theater during World War II. After which, he was honorably discharged. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a trackman. Also, during his time with the railroad he was an active union man for better treatment and rights of the railway laborers with the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees union (modern day under the Teamsters Union), as well as a member of the American Legion Bataan Post No. 16. Wally was a good man, loving brother, husband, father and grandfather, as well as a very proud great-grandpa. He was an animal lover, enjoying time with his dogs throughout life and feeding the squirrels when doing his daily constitutional through the park, when he was still able. Wally kept on living life his way, riding his motorcycle until he was 92 years of age. Even after his riding days were over, he kept his family on their toes with his sense of humor. Wally will be remembered with fondness and greatly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Mickie Goodwin-Stimpson and stepchildren, Barbara Foale, Fred Schmid and Barbara Legg; not to mention many grandchildren and a few great grandchildren.
