Mr. Varughese Mathew (Rejuchayan) was born to late Mr. K.N. Mathai and late Mrs. Elsy Mathew on June 1, 1955 in Puthenpeedika, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India. He was brought up in strict Orthodox faith. At the age of ninenteen, when he was in Saudi Arabia, he suffered from dust allergies. The allergies were so severe that doctors said that he would not survive more than three days in Saudi Arabia and was recommended to go back to India. Then, his friend told him the Gospel and they prayed together. While he was praying alone, God gave him the vision healing from his allergy. After this incident, he accepted Jesus as his personal Savior at the age of twenty. Then, during one of his vacations, he came to Mumbai and took water baptism. The Lord then filled him with the Holy Spirit and ever since then, he had been worshipping the Lord in spirit and truth. He was a faithful witness for the Lord until he was called home.
He took water baptism without informing anybody and they all rejected him. Due to this, his father forced him to marry a woman outside of Pentecostal faith. Due to the family pressure, on January 20th, 1985 he married Rosamma Varughese, daughter of late Mr. Ninan Varughese and late Mrs. Aleyamma Varughese, who belonged to the Catholic faith.
He was employed in Saudi Arabia from 1976 to 1986. After that, he came and settled as a family in Faridabad, Haryana, India. He lived there for 16 years. Due to his prayers and tears, his wife came to the Pentecostal faith in 1993. He started working in a company in Faridabad.
He bought a house in Faridabad and he gave the top floor to Church of God, India to conduct worship. He was the pillar of that church. He used to teach Sunday school and minister from the word. Due to his evangelization, many came to this faith. His passion for the perishing souls was admirable. He continuously prayed for his family and one brother and two sisters came to this faith. His passion for Christ was indescribable.
In November 2005, he came to Oklahoma, U.S.A. and settled here as a family. He attended IPC Ebenezer, Oklahoma from November 2005 to present. He was a very active member and served as the Secretary since 2008. He was an active member of ICPF, Oklahoma and a board member of Peace Forces Ministries, USA.
He is survived by his wife Rosamma Varughese, daughter Renija George and her husband Jijo George and son Renoj Varghese,. He is also survived by his four siblings Jolly Rajan and her husband P.D. Rajan in Bangalore, brother Mathew K. Mathew, and his wife Jessy Mathew in Kerala, brother Ninan Mathew and his wife Gigi Ninan in Kerala and sister Shiny Shaji and her husband Shaji Koshy in Kerala.
We, the family and friends, miss our dear Rejuchayan (Varughese Mathew). Let the blessed hope comfort us in this sorrowful situation. We request your prayers.
