Terry M. Reaves, 71, passed on from this life to the next after a year-long battle with leukemia on Sunday, June 22, 2014, in Oklahoma City. He is survived by his loving wife Jan Reaves of Oklahoma City, his son Travis (and wife Christie)of Harker Heights, TX, son T.J. (and his wife Simone) of Pemberton, British Columbia, daughter Jillynn (and husband Tony) of Colfax, NC, sister BJ (and husband Bob), and seven grandchildren and one on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carolyn.
Terry was born in Shawnee, OK on April 26, 1943 to Ted J and Thelma Smith Reaves. He graduated Winfield High School, Winfield, KS in 1961 and graduated college from Emporia State University (formerly Kansas State Teachers College) in Emporia, KS in 1965 where he was a part of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He spent his entire working career, serving as a faithful contracted representative, with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company for 48 years. In 1968, Terry married Patricia Irene Stark and they were married for 32 years, during which time they raised their three children.
Terry delighted in sharing his love of OU football with anyone who would show interest or give a listening ear. He greatly enjoyed travels with his wife Jan and delighted in getting to see his kids and grandkids. His interests also included reading, puzzles, traveling, photography, and work.
He took great pride in his work as the consummate financial professional. He was very interested in what was best for his clients and walking the journey alongside them from beginning to end. He was a Series 7 Investment Broker as well as a Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table since 1972. He received the National Sales Achievement Award from an unprecedented 1971-1990 and was a member of the NAIFA, as well as being able to produce nearly 3,000 lives. Terry’s career achievements were surpassed by his professional integrity and personal relationships he was able to build with the lives of his clients.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Jan, his children, seven grandchildren, sister, numerous family members and countless friends, associates and coworkers.
