Mr. T.A. Thomas Thekkeparampil (Joy) was called to Heaven on February 2, 2024. He was born on May 22, 1939, in Anchery, Kottayam, Kerala, India. He is the eldest of seven children to the late K.U. & Aleyamma Abraham. His family and close friends lovingly called him Joyichayan.
Joyichayan married Deenamma Thomas on June 14th, 1971 in Anchery. He immigrated to the United States in December of 1974 to join Deenamma in Red Bud, Illinois. In 1979, they moved to Oklahoma City for better job opportunities and where they raised their family. Joyichayan worked for Altec Lansing until the plant closed. They were blessed with four children – Bobby, Bose, Beena, and Bindhu.
In 2007 after Joyichayan and Deenamma retired, they moved back to his childhood home in Anchery till 2020. During this time, he loved taking long walks, playing cards, but most importantly spending time with his brothers, sisters, cousins, and friends. He was actively involved in his church and had a generous heart for those in need. He loved praying and reading the Bible twice a day and had a great memory for Bible verses.
While he enjoyed his time back in India, he was eager to return to the United States and settled back in Oklahoma City in December of 2020 to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He doted on his 6 granddaughters and lived to make them laugh and smile. He cared deeply for his friends and family and connected with them daily. He greeted everyone with his warm smile and brought joy to everyone with his wit and humor.
Joyichayan is survived by his wife Deenamma; children Bobby, Bose, Beena and Bindhu; daughters-in-law Dolly and Sherin; granddaughters Olivia, Ella, Bella, Veronica, Katie & Caroline; two brothers (Rev.Fr. Jacob Thekkeparampil, T.A. Abraham and family) and four sisters (Joseph and Annamma Chandy), (Korah and Leelamma Polichara), (M.T. and Anie Oommen), (M.A. and Jessy Raju); four nephews, nine nieces, and all of his great nieces and nephews.
He will be missed tremendously by his family and friends, but his spirit will continue to be with us.
The family would like to sincerely thank everyone for their incredible support and prayers during this difficult time. We ask that you continue to remember Joyichayan and family in your prayers.
