Robert Lee Yount, longtime Oklahoma City resident, passed away after a brief illness on March 31, 2016 in Oklahoma City. Bob was born on July 29, 1932 to Robert Lamar and Violette Yount. He graduated from Classen High School in 1950. Bob served with honors in the Army in the Korean War. He was recognized with 5 honorary medals for his service. He graduated from OSU in 1958 with an engineering degree. Bob joined the family business, Yount Food Stores upon graduation from OSU. He established several businesses which included laundromats, auto dealership and Drive a Dog auto rentals. In his retirement, Bob had many varied interests and enjoyed traveling and learning Spanish. He enjoyed working at Hahn-Cook Funeral Home until his death.
He married Dolores Erts, raised her two daughters Nancy Hyde and Janet Davis of Edmond, OK. Bob was the proud grandfather of Lizzie Gerock, Chrissie Oliver, Katie Citty, Josh Davis and three great grandchildren. He later married Zonia Armstrong and they remained very good friends until his death.
Bob loved flying his plane, running marathons, hunting, fishing, spending time with his many friends, close family and his birddog Patty.
A memorial celebration of life service will be held April 9, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel, 6600 Broadway Extension, OKC.
Bob will be greatly missed by all who loved him and knew him. Memorial donations can be made to the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center, 921 NE 13th or charity of your choice.
