Robert Allen Selig was born on July 28, 1950, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, the middle son of Samuel Mark Selig, Jr. and Grace LaVada (Allison) Selig.
At the age of nine, Robert and his family moved to Oklahoma where he lived until his passing. After high school Robert joined the U.S. Army and served two tours in Vietnam before he was honorably discharged.
Robert and Valerie met when they were young teenagers but life took them in different directions. As adults, they came back together and on May 20, 1977, they were united in marriage and celebrated 47 wonderful years together.
He worked for 35 years for US Food Distributors before he retired. He had his own parking space reserved labeled “The King.” He played a vital role in keeping things running smoothly.
Robert was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys football fan. Every holiday or birthday, family members knew what to get him – the newest Dallas Cowboys t-shirts and memorabilia!
Robert was a man who loved his family over anything, a man who will be remembered as a good husband, father, and grandfather. He was an honest, loyal, and reliable person and role model.
Robert is preceded in death by his daughter Christy Lea Selig and his mother Grace Downey.
Robert is survived by his wife Valerie Moore Selig of Oklahoma City; son Jason Paul Selig of Oklahoma City; brother Samuel Mark Selig II; grandchildren Sumer Saylor & Aimee Johnson; and three great-grandchildren.
The Selig family would like to thank Torria Oguinn and all the wonderful VA and Excell hospice nurses, aides and social workers, and Kevin Willis.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations to help fight Parkinson MSA disease would be much appreciated.
