Orvil Lynn Dunsworth

Orvil was born in Portales, NM to the Late Anderson & Margorie Dunsworth on May 22nd of 1935. From a young age, he loved horses and rodeos. He always wanted to grow up to be a cowboy along with laying around in the fields on the farm in Portales, NM watching the planes and dreaming of flying around the world in one of them.

He attended Portales High School where he graduated in 1953. After graduating he married Betty Lou Mitchel in 1954. Shortly after marriage, he joined the US Airforce for 23 years earning the Title of Master Sergeant.

The Air Force stationed him in Oklahoma where he moved his family to in 1961. He served in Vietnam from January 1970 to January 1971.

In his life, Orvil enjoyed hunting, fishing, rodeos, and bluegrass music events. He was also quite the family man. Always enjoying big family gatherings.

Orvil is preceded in death by his parents: Anderson and Marjoire Dunsworth, 2 sisters, Lois Dunsworth and Marjoire Ruth Summers, Daughter and son-in-law: Norma & Theodore Pohlman.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years Betty Lou Dunwsorth, 6 children: Son Hayden Dunsworth & his wife Debbie, Son Charlie Dunsworth & wife Regina, Daughter Janice and her husband Charles, Son Melvin Dunsworth, Son Howard Dunsworth & wife Jackie and Daughter Jo Ellen.

He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister Kay Dosher and brother Leroy Dunsworth, his wife Betsy, and many nieces and nephews.

Orvil made an impact on everyone he met and was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A visitation for Orvil will be held Monday, November 20, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A committal will occur Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 3:15 PM to 4:00 PM, at Arlington Memory Gardens.
