Nancy Lee Woods

Nancy was born on May 4, 1934 in Mexico, MO to S. Neal and Neva Lee Johnson. She graduated from Checotah High School in 1952 and was valedictorian of her graduating class. She attended Cottey College in Nevada, MO and remained an active member of PEO Chapter EK. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma in 1955 and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She married James E. Woods on June 13, 1954 in Guthrie, OK. Nancy was an excellent homemaker and mother and was always active in the various activities of her children. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader of mystery novels and enjoyed travelling in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, her parents and her brother John N. Johnson. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Laura Emmerich and husband Tom of Centennial, CO; her son Alan Woods and partner Christopher Smith of Durango, CO; grandchildren Jeffrey Emmerich of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jessica Murphy and husband David of Denver, CO; brother Jerry Johnson and wife Diana of Hilltop Lakes, TX; 4 nieces and 4 nephews as well as countless friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
