Milton Edward “Eddie” O’Bleness, 81, was born at home on November 27, 1939 in Chandler, Oklahoma. He was the first born of Milton and Christeen (Gazaway) O’Bleness. He was followed by 2 sisters, Linda Pennanen and Sue Pressnell, and 1 brother, Tony O’Bleness.
Eddie graduated from El Reno High School in El Reno, OK. He joined the United States Navy at 17 years old. After serving his country he began working in his family’s newspaper business setting the printers. Eddie was also a minister and worked as a social worker.
Eddie was later married and had 2 daughters, Angela Christeen (O’Bleness) Law and Holli Noelle (O’Bleness) Thompson. Eddie married 2 more times until he found the love of his life Julia (Williams) O’Bleness who finally took the “Rambling” out of the “Rebel”.
When he met Julia, Eddie had been sober from his struggle with alcohol addiction for 2 years. Eddie credited AA with saving his life and he reunited with his 2 daughters. With the help of AA he walked and talked till his passing. He would go to every meeting and even mentored many people. His last birthday while attending AA marked 29 years of continued sobriety.
After reuniting with his family Eddie soon learned to his surprise and a little bit of fear that he had 16 grandchildren; Amanda Skjong and husband Chad, David Law, Ryan Law and wife Madison, Jonathan Law, Bryan Thompson, Seth Thompson and wife Amber, and Jaret Thompson and wife Meaghan, JoAnn Parkes and husband Nathan, Erin Gooding and husband Seth, Matthew Williams, Nathan McDonald and Grace McDonald, Brittni Dowthitt, Bri Smith and husband Kurt, and Brooke Guevara. He was very proud to be called “Opa” and has 9 great-granddaughters; Karissa, Kaylee, McKenzie, Kailyn, Lailah, Elaina, Reyna, and Demi; and one due after Eddie’s birthday this year on November 28th, 2021; and 6 great-grandsons, Oakley, Judson, Landon, Coen, Pryer, and Riker.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Milton W. and Christeen O’Bleness; and his wife, Julia (Williams) O’Bleness; Grandson Jason Williams; as well as many other loved ones. He is survived by his daughters, Angela Law, and Holli Thompson; step-daughter, Carrie McDonald and husband Chris; step-son, Jeff Williams and wife Linda; sister, Linda Pennanen; brother, Tony O’Bleness and wife Debbie; and sister, Sue Presnell; as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his good friend Elizabeth Confer.
The family would like to thank Oklahoma Palliative & Hospice Care for the love and care given to Eddie before his passing.
Eddie never knew a stranger, if he was out to eat or even just in town he would talk to anyone and everyone.
